Nicole Bailey Athletic Therapy

Strength and Conditioning

About Nicole

Originally from Peterborough, Ontario, Nicole and her two sisters grew up surrounded by sport from a young age.  Nicole competed in gymnastics through elementary school, but when she was introduced to the game of rugby in grade 9, she traded her gymnastic suit in for a pair of cleats and never looked back.   Rugby opened many of doors for Nicole, representing her province, country, and back-to-back CIS Gold Medallists: University of Western Ontario..

Over the years, having spent countless hours training, and a comparable number in treatment for injuries Nicole decided to pursue a career as a Certified Athletic Therapist.  Her personal experience as an athlete allows her to better relate to clients, the demands placed on them in their sport/activity and the mental and physical hurdles they may be faced with in their training and/or with injury.

Nicole completed her BSc Honors Specialization in Kinesiology and Bachelor of Education (I/S) at The University of Western Ontario. She later completed her Advanced Certificate in Athletic Therapy at Mount Royal University and Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  In 2012 Nicole opened her business, working on field with teams, and in clinic providing injury rehabilitation and strength and conditioning training.

Nicole has recently moved back to her hometown of Peterborough, where she is now available for individual and group training , both outdoor or in-home.

ATHLETIC THERAPY

How can athletic therapy help you?

Athletic therapists specialize in injury prevention, immediate care, and rehabilitation of both acute and chronic injuries.  Athletic therapists develop individualized treatment plans, which may include manual therapies, therapeutic modalities, strengthening exercises, and techniques to increase mobility.  Treatment plans address the whole body and not just the injury site, helping to decrease the risk of future injuries and conditions.

The treatment plans are created to return individuals to full strength and function, as well as prepare them to return to their daily activities and/or sport.

Who can benefit from athletic therapy?

Athletic therapists are trained to work with all ages and activity levels, ranging from national level athletes preparing for competition to seniors who are looking to improve their balance . Athletic therapists also work with deconditioned individuals, addressing factors that may put them at risk for future injuries or conditions.

Why Nicole Bailey Athletic Therapy?

From your initial assessment until the day you are discharged, you get one-on-one attention.  Nicole takes the time to explain your injury, address your concerns and create a treatment plan that suits your needs and schedule. Following your appointment, hard copies of assigned exercises are emailed with detailed descriptions and instructions.   Nicole makes herself available between visits to answer any questions or concerns.

Does insurance cover this service?

A number of insurance companies and sporting bodies have extended their health benefits  to accept billing for athletic therapy.  Individuals should check with their insurance company to see if their policy covers athletic therapy.
